There is a reason he is so pumped!

The U.S. just won another gold medal . . . at the 2004 Olympics.  Darn you, NBC tape delay!

Turns out the International Olympic Committee just UNFROZE URINE from some eastern European Olympic medalists from 2004 who were suspected of doping.  The testing equipment didn't catch them back then, but technology's come a long way.

And it turned out four track-and-field athletes HAD used steroids . . . so they were stripped of their medals.

The athletes were a Russian woman who won a bronze in shot put, a Belarus guy who won a silver in hammer throw, a Belarus woman who won a bronze in discus, and a Ukrainian man who won gold in shot put.

In that shot put event, an American named Adam Nelson actually TIED the gold medal winner's distance, but lost in a tiebreaker.  Now he's been moved up . . . and won his first-ever Olympic gold medal.  And it only took eight years.

Nelson is 37 now.  He says he was driving to the airport in Atlanta yesterday when he heard the news.  He's happy . . . but says he's disappointed he didn't get to hear the national anthem on the podium.
