If you're in the market for a new TV, July is definitely the time to buy! July is a notoriously awful time of year for TV retailers, which means consumers will see the lowest prices. The "HD Guru" for NBC News says that since TV makers have had a rough few years they've started adopting "unilateral pricing policies" (UPP). This means the prices are the absolute lowest a dealer can sell a TV for. Samsung, Sony, LG, Toshiba and Sharp all have the UPP policy in place, so if you spot one of those brands for a low price on Amazon, the Guru says you'll probably see the price just as low in Best Buy or your local independent shop. Additionally, remember, the longer you wait to buy a specific model the cheaper it will become, and sometimes you can avoid sales tax if you buy your TV from an out-of-state retailer. (NBC)
